The city of Cumilla holds a proud and enduring tradition of academic excellence, shaped by generations of respected schools and colleges. Within this legacy, Cumilla Shikkha Board Government Model College stands as a modern milestone. Established to uphold national standards of quality education, the institution represents a forward-looking vision by the Government of Bangladesh. Located in the Shaktala area on nearly three acres of land, the college was designed to provide a complete academic journey from Class VI to Class XII. It blends discipline, innovation, and accessibility within a structured learning environment. From its earliest days, the college emphasized strong academic performance, ethical values, and technological integration. Today, it is widely recognized as one of Cumilla’s most distinguished government institutions, reflecting both tradition and progress.
Cumilla Shikkha Board Model College was founded in 2008 as part of a national initiative to establish “Model” institutions across Bangladesh. Unlike conventional colleges, it was initially managed directly by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Cumilla. This unique governance allowed rapid academic monitoring and strict evaluation standards. The college began enrolling Higher Secondary students in the 2008–2009 session, offering Science, Business Studies, and Humanities streams, alongside an English Version curriculum. Its early academic culture emphasized discipline, frequent assessments, and exam preparedness. A historic transition occurred on September 18, 2017, when the institution was nationalized, with formal regulations enacted in 2018. Renamed Cumilla Shikkha Board Government Model College, it became more accessible while retaining its academic rigor.
Over time, Cumilla Shikkha Board Government Model College has earned a reputation for consistent academic excellence and innovation. Maintaining remarkable pass rates in JSC, SSC, and HSC examinations, the college demonstrates the effectiveness of its disciplined academic framework. Its commitment to technology-driven education is evident through multimedia classrooms, advanced science laboratories, ICT facilities, and membership in BdREN. Beyond academics, student development is enriched through BNCC, Scouts, cultural clubs, and national competitions. Leadership by experienced BCS Education cadre principals ensures professional governance and strategic growth. Under current leadership, the institution continues to modernize while preserving core values. As it moves forward, the college stands as a lasting model of how public investment in education can shape skilled, responsible, and future-ready citizens of Bangladesh.
